Forget what the guide books say and let our KIX hosts take you to the best places in their hometown. They will share their personal stories, favorite hidden gems and the tastiest local food. Oh and did we mention the scooters? All KIX tours are by scooter, allowing you to access smaller roads and hidden neighborhoods far from the hoards of tour buses. And best of all, our drivers do all the work! You can just sit back, relax and soak it all in!
Yes! But on our tours, we like to think of our guides as ‘hosts’’! A guide is someone who shows you sites and gives you a history lesson. On the other hand, a KIX host is more like a friend sharing their hometown with you- all of its hidden secrets, vibrant local culture and best places to eat, drink and take photos. They are licensed guides and filled with knowledge about their country but KIX focuses more on giving you that local insight that you won’t get on other tours!
KIX scooter tours are fairly all-inclusive! We pick you up before the tour and drop you off at the end, so there’s no need to pay for a taxi to reach the start point. All entrance fees to the sites we visit are included as well as food and drinks as mentioned in the tour description. Of course, we have the scooter and driver with a helmet and rain poncho for you. And our fabulous KIX hosts who will take great care of you throughout the city tour. So once you’ve booked a KIX tour, all you need to do is show up, bring your sense of adventure and have a great time!
When you join a KIX tour, we match you with one of our local drivers who will take you around the city on the back of his or her scooter. This way you can relax and enjoy the ride without having to focus on the traffic or road rules! Just hop on the back of the scooter and enjoy the sites and sounds of the city!
If it starts to rain on a KIX city tour, we do what the locals do: pull over, put on our rain ponchos then continue on! Rain showers in our destinations are rarely more than just, well, showers! If we do encounter heavy rain, we’ll pull over in the nearest coffee shop or noodle stall to take a break until it lightens up then get back on the road. In the rare case that roads become impassable and we deem it unsafe to run the tour, we will notify guests and offer to reschedule the tour or refund the booking.
Absolutely! Kids of all ages are welcome to join and often have more fun than their parents! We have kid-sized helmets and our drivers take great care of their younger passengers. For smaller, younger kids (5 and under) we place on the scooter between the driver and their parent. For older kids (6+) they have the option of riding on the back of the scooter with just the driver. And we can adapt our evening adventures to be a bit less bar-focused and more food and market focused for families who book private tours.
We can cater to most dietary requirements with advanced notice. When making your booking, please share with us any details about your requirements and we will work with our local restaurants to adapt the dishes to meet your needs as best we can. However as we are focused on sharing truly local dishes, please understand that there may be limited options for certain dietary needs.
